Retro Elevator

The Virtual Cab

The Vision

The Virtual Cab starts with an idea. A vision that the designer has of what the elevator cab should look like. Of course at this point the vision is just that - an image in the mind of the designer. With something as simple as a 'sketch' or an actual drawing, we can construct the Virtual Cab. We then take this sketch or drawing and construct a black and white CAD model of the walls, ceilings and details. (Click on drawings at right.)

The Virtual Cab ....

Using the information in the CAD drawings, we now use sophisticated 3D software to construct the Virtual Cab. At this point we download or scan the actual material and colors desired by the designer. For this feature project, we scanned in Stained Cherry, two types of granite, and stainless steel. Our 3D software gives us the ability to input specific information regarding the lighting system, i.e. actual wattage, type of bulb (Halogen or incandescent, etc.) which allows for projection of the effect that the lighting will have on the finishes.

.... Becomes Reality

Although not an exact replication, the Virtual Cab gives the designer/ owner a 'glimpse into the future' before the project begins.
